Day 27/365

I never ate asparagus in my life until about a year or two ago.  What was I thinking?!  I love it so much now.  But I'd never cooked it.  Tonight, I decided I had to have some.  So I stopped by the market on the way home and I roasted some up with some olive oil spray, kosher salt and garlic.  OMG.  It was so, so good.  I can't wait to roast some up tomorrow.  Want some??

Day 26/365

Went to the dentist today.  I love my dentist.  I actually go every six months.  It makes the visits so easy!  I had such a great visit today.  I even took a picture of the building where all the dental magic happens.  And on my way to work after the dentist, I drove past a grown man riding a tricycle down the street.  And he was wearing a bright orange vest and had a bright orange flag on his tricycle.  It was very odd.

Day 25/365

Had a crazy, crazy day.  I mean crazy.  I hate that feeling when you just can't get it all done.  No matter what you do.  But on the bright side, the cafeteria had their Tomato Florentine, which I LOVE.  Love so much that I didn't eat the yummy salad that I had brought to eat.  So I ate it just now for dinner.  I love strawberries on my salad.  I could eat this salad every day.  Now I sit here trying to de-stress.  I actually feel the stress in my back and neck.  I hate that.  It is a good damn thing I love my job so much.

Day 24/365

This big ol' weed grew out of one of my flower pots.  But I like it and I think I'm going to let it do it's thing.  I hope it doesn't grow into a tree!

Day 23/365

Summer is here!  Boy did it get hot fast.  But not too hot to eat outside.  Steve and I went to Isabella's for Brunch today and it was sooooo yummy.  Stopped at Accents on the way home to pick up some fresh herbs for our new herb garden.  She had the herbs out in the back of her store, where I saw this beautiful tree.  I love Spring, even when it feels like Summer.

Day 22/365

Just had lunch with 3 of my wonderful Nursing School friends.  Feels like forever since I've seen them!  Two were bridesmaids of mine and we just haven't been able to get together.  So we did today and it was sooo much fun.  I couldn't have gotten thru Nursing School without them.

And of course, Debbie bought squirrel underpants.

Day 19/365

Sylvester thinks the cats are not being representing in my blog.  He disapproves of all the dog coverage.

Day 17/365

Another rainy day.  April is the cruelest month.  But as Dolly says, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.  So I'm am rejoicing in the cleansing rain.

Day 16/365

Day 16 found me at work on Pediatrics very, very early.  Especially early since it was Sunday and I didn't realize I had agreed to work it until this past Friday.  But I sucked it up and went and it was a really great day.  I hate having to work on the weekend, but damn, I really do love being a nurse. How lucky am I that I get to do what I love?  So I got home around 3:30-ish, feeling like I wanted to salvage what was left of my Sunday.  Changed out of my scrubs and got on the couch with Steve.  Sat around for about a half hour, checking out Facebook, trying to decide what to do.  Saw on FB that my fav couple where at Bushwallers, so Steve and I decided to ride our bikes down to see if they were still there.  And they were.  And we were all happy and shit.  And life was good once again.  So here are pics of my afternoon with Team Fun.  Love, love, love them.

Day 15/365

What a beautiful day.  This is the weather I am happiest in.  Not too hot, not too cold.  Perfect.  So we decided to spend the day outside.  Started by riding our bikes over to Jeff and Amanda to say hi to them while they were having their yard sale.  Then rode down to eat lunch outside at Cacique.  From there, we rode to the Keys Stadium to watch them play bad baseball.  Rode home, hung out in the yard with the dogs then rode back down to have dinner on the patio at Brewer's Alley.  Always a disappointing dining experience, but a great place to sit outside and they do have yummy brews.

I learned a few things today at the Key's game.
1.  People are trying to bring back jean shorts.  Not cut-offs, but actual shorts.  I don't get it.
2.  I am afraid Tails are trying to make a comeback in the hair department.  I saw a kid with one downtown today and a grown man with one at the game.  Refer to picture above.  That trend was wrong when it happened the first time.  It must not be resurrected.
3.  The Keys have a Family Section where you can't drink or smoke and I'm pretty sure swearing is off limits.  Well, I propose an Adult Section, where you can do all of those and mostly, you can sit and watch baseball without kids screaming for Keyote (the mascot) to come over.  And I mean screaming.  Non-stop.  And parents that think it's okay for that to happen.

Now we are settled in for the night.  I have to work EARLY tomorrow.

Day 15/365

This is not where I want to be on this beautiful Spring day. I need a better view.

Day 14/365

Steve is making a fashion statement with these jean shorts.  I just don't think he fully comprehends just what that statement is.

Day 13/365

From one of the happiest days of my life.

Day 12/365

Good luck Kitty, always watching over us.

Day 11/365

Today is Tyler's 2nd birthday.  I can't believe how fast time has gone by.  I also can hardly remember a time when he wasn't in our lives.  He is such a great little guy and I'm so happy he is in our family.  Here are some pics of his birthday.  We wanted to have a party with all his dog friends (yes, he does have them, and yes, we are those kinds of people), but his elbow is still having trouble, so he is on activity restrictions.  Here is getting his presents, guarding them from Maggie, and trying to stop her when she goes in for the steal.

Day 10/365

Happy Easter!  Not a very Easter-y day for me.  Worked on Peds today.  Had a great shift.  I had planned on taking a picture of the Peds unit, so you could see where I spent my day, but I was busy and it didn't happen.  So, now I'm sitting on the couch, watching television with Steve.  This is what he looks like when he is watching tv.  Sorry.  That's all you get today.

Day 9/365

Went to visit my parents and sister today.  It's been a rough week and I just wanted to spend some time with the family.  My sister is living at home again and so is her little, and I mean little, dog Minnie.  Here are some pics of a 4 pound dog.  She is smaller than most of my dog's toys.  It's very strange that a dog can be so little and yet sill act like a dog instead of a cat.

Day 8/365

"Happy" hour.  Yeah, I meant to put the quotes.

Thursday, April 9, 2009

Day 7/365

Had a really crazy, stressful day at work.  Nothing worth taking a picture of.  Nothing I want to remember.  When I got home, I was just basically decompressing and vegging out.  Steve didn't get home until a few minutes ago since he went for a haircut after work.  When he got home, the dogs were very happy to see him, as you can see (so was I, but no pic of it).  Notice the newly cut hair.  I'm too tired and worn out to say anything else.

Day 6/365

Went to Craft Night tonight at my friend Jeanine's.  She had an ice cream sundae bar as our "craft".  I really need to learn how to say no thanks.  But I really love ice cream and hadn't had dinner, so I was hungry.  And Elin brought a cool contraption that makes whipped cream without a mixer.  It was cool, but it kept leaking out whipped cream in a sort of obscene way that made us giggle.  So I took a picture.

Day 5/365

I spent the day with these guys, getting re-certified in PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support). I spend the entire day hoping I will never have to use my knowledge.  Whenever I take it, I always do get a little itch to work in the Emergency Department though.  There's talk of building a Peds ED at the hospital and my manager on Peds is trying to get me to work there.  Is a career change in my future? Maybe.  But I doubt they could afford me.

Day 4/365

So this Namaste hanging hangs from a plant above my TV.  So I see it every time I'm zoning out in front of the tube.  It is a constant reminder that I have not been meditating.  You'd think it would make me turn off the TV for a few minutes and sit.  I have not been meditating like I would like to.  No reason, other than I'm just not.  I have the time, or at least I could make the time.  I just don't.  So I need to commit to it.  I really love it and think life just feels better when I do.   I thought if maybe I took a picture and posted about it, it would make it happen.  I guess we'll see.

Day 3/365

It is finally feeling like spring outside, which means I will come up with any excuse to drive my car.  It's bad for the environment, yada, yada, yada, but I love, love, love when I get to put the top down.  When you look up from the inside of a car, you should see the clear blue sky, and not just thru a sunroof.  Hence, the picture for day three.  Skylight from the drivers seat.  On another note, had a great time at Elin's today, tasting food from Moxie she prepared for a photo shoot. Can't wait until that place opens!! It will be so yummy and so nice to have a place on the North End to eat.  Thanks Elin and Amanda for all you do!

Day 2/365

Steve and I are finally spending some time this weekend getting our yard in shape.  The winter was very hard on it and having two dogs running around has really messed it up.  And for some reason, my flower beds have become overrun by onions.  But not the yummy kind you can eat. Just the pain in the ass kind I have to weed out of my garden.  Today, I came to terms with the fact that while I love having a garden, I despise gardening.  Seriously.  Back aches, worms, weeds. Yuck.  Anyone want to come weed for me this summer?  Please?  Anyhoo, today's picture is of my lilies coming to life.  It makes gardening almost worth it.  Almost.

Day One!

Since Tyler's activity is being restricted as we try to get his arm better using HA injections, he is really bored.  His new favorite activity is to sit and stare out the window, dreaming of running outside.  I'm worried this might turn into a "Rear Window" situation.  I feel bad for the little guy. He is so bored.
