Day 110/365

Chris O. is leaving town, heading to St. Louis temporarily (we hope). We had a surprise going away gathering for him tonight at Guidos. This was all Elin's doing, as Chris hates this kinda thing. It was a lot of fun.

Day 109/365

Maggie made it back into the water treadmill today. She doesn't like it much, but is really adorable in it.

Day 107/365

These are some really, really tired feet. AFter the rain storm to end all rain storms the other night, I went down to the basement (the next day) to find a flood. Not like feet of water, but enough that it was a big pain in the ass. Luckily, most of our stuff is elevated on shelves, and the stuff on the floor was in plastic tubs. So not a lot of damage done. Buuuut, we did spend the last two days cleaning out our basement, which we've been meaning to do since we moved 3 years ago. We haven't seen the floor of our basement since we moved here. But now it is clean and organized and the floor is all clear. I am so happy. But I have some really tired feet. And I have to work on them tomorrow!

Day 106/365

Woke up this morning to find a toothbrush in my powder room. I'm assuming it was Steve's doing. He got up at the crack of dawn to go to work early today. I found this strange for a couple reasons. The first is that we use an electric toothbrush, not a manual and the second is that I think the toothbrush is my "spare", meaning that apparently, we used the same toothbrush, which is gross.

Day 105/365

Maggie is still having some pain since her slip last week, so her surgeon put her on a muscle relaxer called Robaxin. She had her first dose last night when I got home from work. About an hour later she started going crazy, running around the house, flopping her head around and rubbing it on anything she could find. I finally got her to sit still long enough for me to look at her and I saw her eyes and mouth swelling up in front of my eyes. I grabbed Tyler from outside, thru him inside, grabbed a leash and my phone and Maggie and ran out the door. Called the vet on my way there. I was a bit panicked, as I had convinced myself that the swelling would cause her to stop breathing on the way there. Happily, she didn't, but she was really a mess. The doctor gave her a shot of benadryl, but was worried about her breathing because by then, she was completely zonked out by the muscle relaxer. We had to wait there for an hour so they could monitor her. They wanted to give her steroids, but couldn't because of another med she is already on. They thought about inducing vomiting, but because she was completely zonked, they were afraid she'd aspirate. What an ordeal. So, no more Robaxin for her. The vet said she has never heard of a dog being allergic to it. But if something can happen, apparently, it will happen to my little girl.

Day 104/365

Day 104 was kinda boring. Work, chiropractor, home. The most exciting thing that happened was Steve's new haircut. So here it is, in all it's glory.

Day 103/365

Had a two party Tuesday last night. FIrst up was a going away party for a consultant at work. We all went to Cacique. The food was great, as usual, but the flowers on the table were comically awful. Check them out for yourself. We actually had a really fun time, which is unusual for a work function! From there, I went home to get Steve and we headed back to Cacique to have a drink with the old gang. Also a lot of fun. From there, we headed to Nola to celebrate Tommy's birthday. Had a really fun time. From there, home to hang out with the furry ones and head to bed. All in all, a really great night.

Day 102/365

Tyler is keeping an eye on you.

This shot was an accident. But I'm keeping it.

Day 101/365

Really wanted to go to the Reggae Wine Festival at Linganore today. Several things stood in our way. I was on call and would have had to bring my laptop. One of us would have had to drive. It was such a beautiful day that it would have been INSANELY crowded. So we decided to have a wine festival in our back yard. Had some folks over for some wine, food and music and it was really nice. Hummus was homemade and so delicious that Steve made about 4, maybe even 5 batches of it. We may make this a weekly thing. The hanging out, but not the hummus!

Day 100/365

Day 100!! What better way to spend day 100 than at a birthday party for Hunter S. Thompson at Team Fun's! Had an absolute blast. What a great night. I bought the ticket and took the ride.

Day 99/365

I got a cool new rain barrel today. Now that we have it, it is sure to never rain again.

Day 98/365

Got some green tomatoes and swiss chard from the CSA this week, so we're gonna cook it all up for a great summer dinner. I stopped to grab a nice summer brew to go with it and found this. It made me laugh. And luckily, the other Smuttynoses I've tasted have been delish. Made some swiss chard to go along with the yummy fried green tomatoes. Highly recommended.

Day 97/365

The black eyed susans have FINALLY decided to bloom. And some flowers from the neighbors decided to peek their heads thru the fence to welcome them.

Day 96/365

Caught up on pic posts! Decided to grill some garlic nam, which I then topped with basil from my garden, fresh mozz and tomato. Soooo good. It says summer. Hell, it screams it.

Day 95/365

Monday's dinner was very yummy. We deep fried squash blossoms stuffed with goat cheese and also made some fingerling potatoes. I love summer veggies. I don't think I've ever deep fried anything other than fritters.

Day 94/365

Falling behind on posting!! I've been taking the pics, but have been slacking on posting. Well, that ends today my friends. Sunday was a really great day. Here is a picture of the jalapeno pepper plant that we bought on Saturday and planted on Sunday.

Day 93/365

Went to a bbq at Chez Smith to see Jimmy and Jenn before they head back to Florida tomorrow. Was great to see them. I took my camera, but only ended up taking one picture.

Day 92/365

This place makes backs happy.

Day 91/365

Maggie is finally eating again. I think the antibiotic must have been upsetting her stomach. Of course, she is eating in bed. Like I said, maybe a bit spoiled since surgery. I realize there have been a lot of dog pics lately. I'm on my way to work tonight (from 10p-7a), so I probably won't take any other pictures today. So it's whatcha get.

Day 90/365

I don't believe I have ever laughed out loud at an obituary picture before. I wonder what dastardly deed did him in. Ok. I am officially going to hell.

Day 87/365

Happy July 4th. Spent the day with old friends I haven't hung out with for a long time. It was really great and made me very happy. We swung by Baker Park for a minute beforehand and wasn't as impressed as I think I should be. Meh. We did FINALLY see the fireworks at the Park (although we watched from Mullinex Park and had a fabulous view). We've lived here so long and had never seen them before. We can't say that anymore. Hope you all had a wonderful 4th too.

PS I picked this firework pic because I though it looked like sperm and that made me giggle.

Day 86/365

July 3rd was a great day. Steve and I were both off work, which was great. We were supposed to go to the Purple Fiddle with Paul and Johnna, but with Maggie's injury, we couldn't go. I was sad, but she needed us here. So we made the most of the day. We went out to lunch then headed to the grocery store (don't we know how to have fun?). It was there that I found them most disgusting juice I have ever seen. Why does juice need meat in it? Clam tomato juice made me throw up a little.

We spent some time with our pack. Maggie finally seems like she is in less pain. She is starting to get back to being Maggie. Still three-legging it, but smiling and not whimpering. Here she is with her dad.

We headed down to the creek, where they were having the annual Boat Float and Drag Queen show. We were too late to see that boats (just like we were last year), but we did catch the drag show. It was actually kinda sad. Not the best queens. Here, judge for yourself. Madonna, Wynona, Janet Jackson and Cher:

Grabbed a yummy dinner at Cafe Nola, came home to spend some time with the family, then headed out to the Birthday Threeway PBR Dance Party. Sebastian is out of town, so there were only 2 birthday boys there (Shelton and Mike). The party was a lot of fun. More subdued than last years, but a lot of fun. Tommy Dean brought 2 year old Double Dog from The Flying Dog and it was GOOD. Potent, but good. We ended up getting home at 3 and in bed at 4. Not what I had planned. The dogs let up sleep until noon though. Actually, we had to wake them up! I missed the Farmer's Market, but other than that I am very happy I slept in. The birthday boys:

Day 85/365

Got home last night with no energy to post it, but I did take this pic last night. Went to Guidos and there were lots of cool friends there. So I took a pic of a few of them. I had a great time and it was great to get outta the house for a bit. It's been so stressful. Maggie finally slept thru the night though, which made me very happy!!

Day 84/365

Maggie had a terribly tough night and a pretty rough day today. She is just so sore. I feel so bad for her. Her "lampshade" cone makes her very sad, so we bought an inflatable "donut" collar that is supposed to keep her from her stitches. She tolerates it much better and looks adorable in it. We still use the lampshade when we aren't home and at night, because I just think she might be able to get to the staples. Hopefully tomorrow will be an easier day for her, and for me.
